Please Vote

We have received NO RESPONSE from Gab. We call on BEMAWU members to vote on a way forward.

We have two options:

1. Enforce the multi-term by means of an urgent court application (BEMAWU will go ahead and bring an application on its own to enforce and protect the rights of our members, as other Unions have not responded to a request from us to join in such an application and share the costs).

2. Wait until the SABC wants to schedule negotiations, which may take months, and re-negotiate a salary increase.

Please get everyone to vote.

The SABC must take note of the fact that they have lied to staff about the 12% increase on 1 April. Some staff have had offers from other employers, which they have turned down in light thereof that they assumed their pay is already higher. The Dept of Labour will collect the short payment for a 25% penalty fee (to SABC), if asked. Have we asked them?

Why should incompetence and miss management from top management be the staff's problem?
If we had skilled people and less politics and in-fighting, the SABC would never have been in this dire situation.

The SABC board must take in account the words of acting GCEO Gap M. He promised all staff that he will make sure that total citizen empowerment prevails in the SABC he is not doing a good job about it. I second comrade Haness the board the executive must all cut there cost to accommodate us the first citizens the real hard workers of SABC viva! Viva! BEMAWU viva! Viva!

Total Citizen Empowerment???
The law of retribution says "what goes around comes around" life is difficult but we will transcend it colleagues...

Fully agree that costs must be cut by taking away the luxuries some still have - etc cellphone allowances, petrol allowances, entertainment allowances as this is part of the expenditure that cripples the coffers of the SABC. Read in the Sunday Times that the CFO is mainly responsible for what happens at the helm of the companies...vote of no confidence for Robin Nicholson as well as the Finance Managers...

Looking at the article in the Mail and Guardian it is clear that we will not receive our annual bonuses. What is going to happen? Bad bad that annual bonuses cannot be given, but Top Management has these huge salaries. I think everybody needs to know if they still have a future at the SABC, or should we rather look out for something else. this is really a huge thing that is happening at the SABC - and something urgent should really be done.

Managers are aware of the financial position of the SABC yet they are still spending on CSI projects. When are they going to take responsiblity for their actions. The staff on the ground are more responsible than what the managers are.... It seems the SABC became a "charity org" and not a "broadcasting org".
